Last night, I attended the Met Gala watch party. It was hosted by the Chicago Fashion Coalition at the breathtaking Stan Mansion. Let me tell you—Chicago fashion came to slay.
The event was beautifully curated. A towering screen played the Met Gala in real time. Some of the city’s most fashionable folks gathered to celebrate style, art, and community. The vibes were on point—think flowing champagne, elevated finger food, and flawless energy.
🎶 Music by DJ Ace Spade and Prem3 set the mood for the event. Guests danced through red carpet interviews. The venue buzzed with conversations and creativity.
I ran into some familiar faces who’ve graced our pages: Brandy Penelope and Ticara Devone from our Spring issue, and Marco of marco.sqrd, whose showroom pieces lit up our Winter 2024 editorial. I also spotted Teddi, host of “Why Don’t We Dress for Dinner Anymore?”—and I have to mention the fit.

🔥 Style Spotlight: Teddi in Tytus
Teddi showed up in an unforgettable look by Chicago designer Tytus, turning heads the moment she walked in. The outfit was effortlessly chic, tailored with sharp elegance and such detail—a perfect fit for the night’s fashionable energy.

I chatted with Brenda, the chic city girl, about her effortlessly fabulous outfit, and connected with a mix of stylists, designers, and up-and-coming models. The mix of industry insiders and fashion lovers made the night feel inclusive and electric.
While we were vibing in Logan Square, New York was serving serious fashion energy. A few of my favorite looks from the Met Gala this year:

- Zendaya in custom all-white Louis Vuitton. Clean, powerful, and ethereal—she never misses.
- Teyana Taylor in a red and black sculptural moment by Marc Jacobs. A full art piece.
- Kim Kardashian wore Chrome Hearts and gave us a darker, glam take that felt refreshingly unexpected.
- Rosalía in Balmain? Effortless, edgy, and pure cool.
- And let’s talk about Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, casually carrying a sewing machine as a handbag. Fashion is storytelling—and he told it with zero notes.
These were just a few of the looks that had me locked in from across the screen. Even miles away, their impact was felt right here in the ballroom. Did you have a favorite look of the night?
What Is the Met Gala Anyway?
Often called fashion’s biggest night out, the Met Gala is an annual fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. It’s where art, celebrity, and couture collide—every first Monday in May.
Each year has a theme, and the 2025 Met Gala honored “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” This year’s exhibition focused on Black dandyism—a cultural and stylistic movement rooted in elegance, identity, and rebellion. From the Harlem Renaissance to modern icons like André 3000, the exhibition celebrated the legacy and future of tailored expression across the Black diaspora.
Fun fact: this is only the second time in the Costume Institute’s history that menswear was the central focus. And the co-chairs? Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, and A$AP Rocky. A dream team.
The Venue: Inside Stan Mansion
Nestled in Logan Square, Stan Mansion is one of Chicago’s most stunning hidden gems. Originally built in 1921 as a Masonic temple, it’s now a grand event space with vintage chandeliers, marble floors, and rich architectural detail.
From the red carpet entrance to the soaring ballroom ceilings, the venue brought a timeless elegance that perfectly matched the night’s fashion-forward energy.
Chicago knows how to throw a fashion party—and this one reminded me just how deep the style roots run in our city. From local legends to runway royalty, we celebrated it all last night under one roof.
Until next year 🙂
